Greece is on a rapid trajectory towards decarbonizing its energy system and is now among the leading nations in Europe for renewable energy. While the proportion of renewable energy in electricity generation is growing, so is the total production capacity, as continued electrification in mobility, industry and tech sectors create more demand. Greece’s strategic geography makes it well placed as a regional energy hub for interconnectors across the Mediterranean and onwards to the European continent. Infrastructure investments are key to this development. What are the bottlenecks, and where should future investments be focused?
